It's that time of year again-- when the itch for a summer vacation intensifies. Even if a summer trip isn't something you've budgeted for, your credit card rewards may help you make it a reality. Here are some ways to use your credit card rewards to lower the cost of a summer vacation.
Airline Miles: Plenty of credit cards offer users opportunities to earn airline miles. You'll get them for making qualified purchases or balance transfers. Why not cash in some or all of those miles to help lower the cost of a plane ticket? Or better yet-- maybe you've accrued enough rewards for a free ticket?
Hotel Stays: Accommodations can be one of the costly aspects of a summer vacation. Fortunately, lots of credit cards offer cardholders ways to earn points which can be redeemed for hotel stays. You may have to stay at a certain hotel chain in order to cash in on this reward.
Cash Back: Few things are better than cold cash. If you're earning cash back by using your credit card, consider putting this money towards your summer vacation. By earmarking this money ahead of time you'll be less tempted to spend it on other things.
Rental Cars: In addition to rewards like free stuff, many credit cards also have perks that give cardholders discounts on popular services. Your credit card may qualify you to receive discounts when you rent a credit card. Be sure to ask when you make your reservation.
